Announcing Alpaca Fiber From:
Mountain Valley Alpacas in Todd NC .. Dwayne Schutt
Dwayne came over Monday and brought all his fleeces to talk about selling them here in the shop... I just fell in love with the fiber.. Had to pull out my charkha and spin a little bit of each one right then and there! I am spinning about 2 ounces of the gray cria's fleece (pictured above) into a 2 ply lace weight and it is truly lovely to work with!
I have about 12 ounces of each of the fleeces in stock and can get more from Mountain Valley Farm if you need more for a project, Most are Huacaya, but the white yearling female (pictured below center) is of Suri bloodlines. They have not been washed or processed, but are fairly clean blankets, I won't promise you won't run across a piece of hay or straw or the occasional second cut, but all in all are well cared for & well skirted fleeces.
I also have some of the "seconds" (
leg, face, neck etc) for felting!
